On O'ahu D.A.R.E. is taught by 14 police officers and administered and supervised by two sergeants. To expand the program to as many students as possible, at the beginning of the 1988-1989 school year, military law enforcement commands began participating with the Honolulu Police Department in a joint effort to share the D.A.R.E. Program curriculum.
Military law enforcement personnel from the Army, Navy, Air force, Marine Corps, and the Department of Defense provide D.A.R.E. to students in schools on or near military bases. Presently, the program has about fifteen military law enforcement instructors teaching D.A.R.E. on a part-time basis.
